EDINBURGH JAZZ SUMMER SCHOOL CONCERT 2005 |

INTERMEDIATE TO ADVANCED
This course is aimed at intermediate to advanced
instrumentalists and vocalists. Prior improvisation experience
is essential, all chromatic instruments welcome.
Set in the beautiful Scottish capital of Edinburgh, the
6-day Edinburgh Jazz Summer School based at the Jewel and
Esk Valley College offers an exceptional opportunity to
combine development in playing, recording and performing
Jazz whilst enjoying one of the world's greatest and most
diverse international arts festivals, the Edinburgh Festival.
What's more you can live on campus using the residential
accommodation, enjoy on-site catering and leisure facilities
at the college and take advantage of easy access to and
from the city centre. 6 nights accommodation is included
in the course fees (non-residential places are also available)
and you may opt to extend your stay over either weekend
before and after the course. The music facilities at the
college are first rate and include 4 studios, 8 ensemble
rooms, and main performance area. Amps and rhythm section
equipment is available. Facilities will also be made available
outside of course hours for rehearsals and more informal
jam sessions.
Students on the course can expect a well structured programme
focusing on improvisation, ensemble playing, performance
and recording techniques, stylistic skills, Jazz harmony
and composition and much more. There will be opportunities
to perform in a public venue and to record a CD with fellow
students. Guest tutors will also be invited as required

The course runs from 10-4.30pm each day. Performance
on the final evening.
